A native of the Washington, DC area, Ed Downs has been selling residential real estate for over 20 years.
By 1993, he had completed his advanced studies at the Realtor Institute, and achieved the GRI professional designation. He is licensed in DC, Virginia, and Maryland.
In the District of Columbia, his higher-ranking Broker’s License provides the opportunity to supervise the work of other Realtors.
Through Weichert Realtors, he has undergone special training and has mentored new agents in the Chevy Chase office, helping them understand the ethics of real estate, the unique business culture, and helping them launch their careers.
In late 2005, he applied to and was selected for participation in the inaugural class of the Leadership Institute of the Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors (GCAAR).
Within the professional community, Ed has been of service to his colleagues.
With the regional Realtors' Association, the Greater Capitol Area Association of Realtors (GCAAR), he has served two terms on the Board of Directors, and a year on the Grievance Committee.
With the state-level Association, the DC Association of Realtors (DCAR), he has served three terms on the Board of Directors, including service as Treasurer (2011) and President (2012). As the Past President, he has served on the DCAR Executive Committee for 2013.
At the National level, Ed is currently serving on the Board of Directors on the National
Association of Realtors (NAR). He has also been appointed to serve on the 2014-2015 NAR
Issues Mobilization and Support Committee.
Ed delights in working with both Buyers and Sellers, whether they are buying their first house or selling their third condominium. Because of his good visual memory and his appreciation of diversity, Ed enjoys selling property in every neighborhood inside the Washington Beltway – from Logan Circle to Montgomery Village to East Falls Church.
He currently lives with his partner and their canine companion in Logan Circle.
